Lisa Byrnes

Instructional Designer

Lisa has been an instructional designer with Penn State since 2007. She spent 11 years with the College of the Liberal Arts learning design group and was the lead instructional designer for the Political Science Program before making the move to Penn State World Campus in 2018.

Prior to working at Penn State, Lisa worked as a Blackboard administrator and technology training coordinator at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA. Lisa also has been teaching online since 2007, and she started her career in 1994, teaching grades 7–12 at Conemaugh Valley Junior/Senior High School in Johnstown, PA.

Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, with an emphasis in Teacher Preparation, from Penn State University. She earned a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania—100% online!

Lisa works remotely from Tucson, AZ, where she resides with her wife, Dr. Melissa Levine, her two step-sons, Josh and Jeremy, her three rescue dogs, and one rescue cat.

In her free time, Lisa enjoys spending time with family and friends; experiencing the great outdoors while playing ultimate frisbee and soccer, golfing, and hiking; and enjoying life!
